The NSYWE is open to young musicians ages 16-21 who are interested in meeting at least 3 times next year to rehearse advanced repertoire, work with specialist clinicians, and perform with this excellent band. The mandate of the NSYWE is to provide an educational experience for talented young musicians presented in a manner and of a quality otherwise not available to them.

The NSYWE is very excited to welcome Dr. Mark Hopkins, Assistant Professor in the School of Music at Acadia University, to the podium this season. Dr. Hopkins travels throughout North America, adjudicating festivals and leading honour bands. He is very active as a guest conductor of professional and collegiate ensembles, having led performances across Canada and the United States, Bermuda, Hong Kong, Japan, Italy, Switzerland, and Romania.
